Intercollege Transfer

Intercollege transfer is the process of transferring from one College to another within the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Students who intercollege transfer to the School of Art + Design are generally placed in the Art Foundation curriculum. To be considered, candidates will need to submit the Fall 2009 A+D Intercollege Transfer Portfolio Submission Form and a portfolio consisting of 10 works of art in either CD-ROM (preferred) or 35mm slide format (for specific directions, see Intercollege Transfer Portfolio Submission Form).

You may submit your portfolio in person to Mark Avery (140 Art + Design Building) or by mail to:

408 East Peabody Drive

Clearly mark your application portfolio. Put your name on the CD itself using a permanent marker or another method.

The portfolio is a collection of your recent work that illustrates your ability for advanced study as an art and design practitioner, educator or historian. It should demonstrate your ability to create and communicate ideas visually using various mediums and technical processes. The portfolio should consist of 10 examples of your recent work. Examples of work to include are drawings, paintings, ceramics, jewelry/metals, sculpture, textiles, photographs, digital artwork, designs (product and other objects), and video. Work illustrating proficiency in a variety of mediums is encouraged. Drawings from real life observation are preferable to those copied from photographs or other images. These drawings can be exploratory, i.e. spontaneous or more finished.
