Instructions for Graduates


An invitation to the 2008 Commencement Ceremony and Reception will be sent to your parents at your permanent address inviting your family and friends to attend these events. Tickets will be issued. Please see Melissa Madsen in room 142 Art + Design for tickets to the ceremony. Tickets must be picked up by noon on Friday, May 9. Box Lunches must be ordered by Friday, April 25.

Regalia

Students and Faculty wear traditional academic regalia (cap and gown) for the Commencement Ceremony. Orders may be place on-line at www.herfjones.com/college/graduation.

The final day for ordering academic regalia for students is April 21, 2008.

Diploma Presentation

Please return your Commencement Ceremony Form to Melissa Madsen in room 142
Art + Design by Friday, April 25 to guarantee your name is called during the Presentation of Diplomas.

Ceremony Instructions

Please be at the Tryon Festival Theater (located inside the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts) promptly at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 11 for processional instructions. Directional signs will be posted in the Krannert Center Lobby.

Enter through the backstage area by taking the South Elevator to Level 2, then make a left turn to the backstage of the Tryon Festival Theater. As you enter the backstage area register please locate your seat on the stage. Your name will be printed on a card and placed on your seat. Seating will be by program in alphabetical order.

Request

The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts requests that we do not use confetti, silly string, or any other material that will litter the stage. The Art + Design Ceremony is the first of three ceremonies and the KCPA staff will not have time to clean the stage prior to the other ceremonies.

Campus Wide Commencement Ceremony

The Campus Wide Ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Assembly Hall. Visit the campus wide commencement website or call 217-333-6814 for detailed information regarding the campus wide ceremony. Tickets are required for the 2:00 p.m. ceremony. Mannie Jackson, owner of the Harlem Globetrotters and University of Illinois alumnus, will deliver the Commencement Address at the campuswide Commencement ceremonies.
