The School of Art + Design is committed to developing the creative, intellectual and academic capabilities in the following degrees:

Master of Fine Arts

The annual MFA Exhibition is one of the highlights of the academic year, always greeted with much anticipation. For the participating students, it is an opportunity to present the culmination of their two to three years of residence in the School of Art + Design. Taking place as it does in the Krannert Art Museum, the largest museum venue in Illinois outside the Chicago area, this exhibition is a meaningful first step beyond student status and into authentic practice in the field.

Master of Arts in Art History

M.A. students in their first year are encouraged to strengthen their breadth of knowledge by taking a wide range of courses. Second-year students are expected to identify an area or period of particular interest for in-depth study leading to a thesis or research paper.

Doctor of Philosophy in Art History

The PhD program n Art History is designed to prepare highly qualified students for careers in museum, reserach and teaching.

Master of Arts in Art Education

The program of study leading to the Master of Arts in Art Education is designed to provide advanced professional preparation for art teachers and supervisors.The majority of applicants to the program are certified to teach art before they begin graduate study

Doctor of Philosophy in Art Education

The degree of Doctor of Education in Art Education is designed to prepare highly qualified art educators for careers of distinction in college-level teaching and research.
